I’ve only used two carriers since I became a mom and I probably won’t try any others. I initially bought my Baby K’tan while I was teaching in an infant classroom a few years ago. Sometimes it was a struggle to take all of our babies outside for a walk and I knew being able to wear one of the babies and push our stroller would be super helpful. I love the Baby K’tan for newborns and small infants because it is super easy to use and very comfortable. It gives you the softness of a wrap or a sling and the security of a carrier because you don’t have to tie it yourself.
The Baby K’tan is also a great carrier for newborns because you can use it from birth up to 35lbs (consult a pediatrician for preemies). I didn’t use the Baby K’tan very long because my son hit a huge growth spurt and I didn’t feel very secure with him in it.
This is when I switched over to the Lillebaby carrier. My friend Tara tried several different carriers out with her daughter and reassured me that the Lillebaby was by far the most comfortable carrier. I took her word for it and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. It was literally life-changing. I started out with the Lillebaby Complete All Seasons carrier and it was (still is) so comfortable that I could barely feel the extra weight of my son. This particular carrier is for babies weighing 7-45lbs.
My son is 17 months old and a little over 25lbs now. Even though he is still within the weight limit for our Lillebaby Complete carrier I decided to switch him to the Lillebaby Carry On All Seasons toddler carrier just to give him extra room. I didn’t think it would make a big difference for me but it is super comfortable! It is designed specifically for toddlers and preschoolers weighing 20-60lbs. I’ve only had it for a few days and I am impressed once again by the quality, security, and comfort of this carrier. I’ve fallen in love with toddlerwearing all over again.
Toddlerwearing is a necessity for my family. I can actually get things done while still giving my son all the attention he needs. It is also really easy for me to discreetly nurse in public while he’s in the carrier. There is a hood included with the Lillebaby carriers and it gives you even more privacy if you need it. I love my stroller but it is super heavy and bulky. My son would also rather be close to me than in a stroller where he can’t see me.
I depend on my Lillebaby every day and I rarely leave the house without it. Toddlerwearing is a huge part of the bond that I have with my son and the bond he has with his father. It makes traveling, walking our dog, grocery shopping, and completing household chores much easier. My son is normally content when he’s in the carrier so the typical toddler tantrums rarely occur. He loves being worn and I can almost guarantee he will fall asleep at least once a day in his carrier. The only regret I have is that I didn’t have my Lillebaby waiting for my son when he was born. Now that he’s getting older I can’t wait to get him his own doll carrier (Yes, Lillebaby makes them too!) so he can start babywearing like his dad.
